The Parlor was inspired by the room the Victorians kept for company- the good furniture, the good china, the good behavior. Roses on the table. Tea poured at four. Everything arranged to be looked at.
It was also the room where they laid out the dead. The furniture never learned the difference.
This incense carries rose and black tea over warm wood: soft, well-mannered, and not entirely alone. Less “bath shop bouquet,” more “someone has been sitting in that chair.”
The Story
The tea has gone cold.
Roses sit in water that needed changing two days ago, and the clock on the mantel keeps time for nobody. Dust turns through a bar of afternoon light and settles on a chair no one has used since the funeral -though the cushion, if you look, is faintly pressed. The Victorians received their guests in this room, and eventually they received their dead here too. Same roses. Same tea. Same chair.
